Phone special keys KeySnap can work with
Many phones now have an extra key: a Snap Key, an Essential Key, a Plus Key and more. Where KeySnap detects the key, you can give each press pattern its own action. Here is what to expect on each phone.
The keys, one guide each
Each guide says what the key does by default, how to set it up in KeySnap, and what is limited. Only the OPPO Snap Key has been tested by us so far, on an OPPO Find X9 Pro.

Nothing Essential Key
Short press: screenshot. Long press: voice memo. Double press: Essential Space.

Opens AI features; double-tap opens the camera on the Magic8 Pro.

A customizable key; its preset functions reportedly run on press and hold.

Short press: screen on/off. Double press: camera. Hold: assistant.

How it works on any key
- Detect the keyIn a new shortcut, choose Key press, tap to record and press the key. If KeySnap shows Key recorded, it sees the key. If it does not, it cannot remap that key on your phone.
- Pick a press patternChoose Single press, Double press or Long press. Each pattern on each key can run a different action.
- Choose an actionAdd an action from the catalogue, for example the flashlight, the camera or a screenshot, and tap the check mark to save.
When you need Advanced Mode
Android hides the power button and many manufacturer keys from normal apps. Advanced Mode uses your phone’s own Wireless Debugging to start a small helper that sees those keys, even with the screen off. Setup needs Wi-Fi and Developer options, and after a restart you open KeySnap again. There is no root, and nothing on the phone is modified.
KeySnap listens to a key, but it does not always stop the phone’s own action. Where your phone lets you set a key to do nothing, do that first so only KeySnap reacts to it.
Questions
What about my phone’s volume keys?
Volume Up and Volume Down can be remapped with KeySnap, with single, double and long presses. The special keys above are the extra ones.
My key is not listed. Can KeySnap still work?
Possibly. Install KeySnap and try to record the key in a new shortcut. If KeySnap detects it, it can be remapped. To tell us how it went, write to support@ardasenn.com.
